1. Recreation Center

• All users participate at their own risk.
• The Recreation Center is open for membership to Residents & Non-Residents of Upper Providence Township. Resident and Non-Resident membership as defined in your Membership Agreement.
• UPTRC members are required to scan a valid membership card upon entering the building.
• Any member that loses their membership key card must immediately report to the front desk to receive a replacement card for $25.00.
• Children must be at least fourteen (14) years of age to enter the facilities without adult supervision.
• No smoking or alcoholic beverages are permitted ANYWHERE on the premises.
• Proper non-marking athletic shoes and full shirts (no sleeveless shirts or bare midriffs – this includes tank tops, sports bras, cut offs, etc.) are required in all areas of UPTRC.
• The use of bicycles, skates, scooters, and skateboards are not permitted inside the facility or on the immediate sidewalks surrounding the Recreation Center. This includes sneakers with skate wheels such as Heelys®. Bicycle racks are available to use at your own risk. Do not lean any bicycle, skooter, or skateboard against the building.
• Food and drinks are permitted in designated areas only. Gum, alcoholic beverages, smoking and tobacco products are not permitted in any part of the Recreation Center.
• UPTRC is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. We encourage members to leave valuables at home or locked in one of the lockers provided in the fitness center. Lost and found items will be logged, labeled, and kept for 3 weeks at the UPTRC front desk at which point they will be donated to a charitable cause. Missing items should be reported to the UPTRC Front Desk and must be claimed there in person.
• Lockers are for fitness center users only and to be used only at the time of your visit.
• Cell Phone Free Zones include: the gym, fitness center, within 10 feet of the rock wall, and the multipurpose room(s). Of course, cell phones can be used in all other areas of the Recreation Center. We ask all cell phone users be respectful of other members and silence your cell phones while in a cell phone free zone.
• Posting or distributing material or literature is not permitted without the approval of the Recreation Director. Approval may take up to 5 business days.
• Selling products or services, soliciting for personal gain; or approaching guests for the purpose of obtaining signatures for petitions on UPTRC grounds is prohibited. This includes “personal trainers” within the fitness center.
• No pets allowed with the exception of service animals.
• No boom boxes or large radios allowed. Personal radios, iPods and similar devices are permitted with headphones.
• UPTRC members are expected to respect the facility and the rights of other individuals. Any user who engages in disorderly conduct, including but not limited to, verbal or physical abuse of an employee or any other guest, is subject to immediate removal from the facility and possible loss of membership privileges or suspension without refund.
• Fees and policies are subject to change.
2. Fitness Center
• No children under the age of fourteen (14) are allowed into the fitness area.
• Proper attire must be worn at all times (full shirts with sleeves, shorts or sweat pants / suits, and athletic shoes).
• Re-rack all plates, barbells, and dumbbells to their appropriate location when finished.
• Do not remove plates or dumbbells from the Fitness Center
• All participants must wipe down all cardio and resistance training equipment including benches, pads, and free weights after each use.
• Food and drinks ARE NOT allowed in the fitness center with the exception of WATER ONLY in a closed, non-breakable bottle.
• The use of chalk and chalk balls is prohibited.
• Do not attempt to modify any piece of equipment or use it in a non-standard or potentially dangerous way.
• There is a 30 minute time limit for all cardiovascular equipment.
• Profanity, destructive or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
• Cell phone use in the fitness center is prohibited.
• Lockers are provided for fitness center users only. You must provide your own lock and bring it with you each time you use a locker. ALL LOCKS will be cut off at the end of the day. Any items can be claimed at the front desk in accordance to the lost and found policy.
• UPTRC has staffed fitness trainers available to help and answer any questions you may have. “Personal training” is available. Please see fitness center staff.
3. Aerobics/Fitness Classes
• A class fee may apply.
• Class size may be limited.
• No infants or non-participating children are allowed during class.
• To minimize risk of injury, participants are asked to continue the class through the cool down.
• Cell phone use is prohibited in the classroom and you are asked to silence your cell phone during class times.
4. Gymnasium
• Children under the age of fourteen (14) must be accompanied by an adult in the gym at all times.
• Food and drinks ARE NOT allowed in the gym.
• Athletic shoes with non-marking soles are the only footwear allowed in the gym. No dress, street, boots, or other black-soled shoes are allowed.
• Profanity will not be tolerated.
• Disruptive, destructive or aggressive behavior is not allowed.
• Only balls and equipment supplied by UPTRC are allowed to be used in the gymnasium.
• Dunking or hanging on basketball rims or nets and volleyball nets is strictly prohibited.
• Cell phone use is prohibited in the gymnasium.
5 Climbing Wall
• All climbers are required to sign a new and updated waiver before they are permitted to climb on any area of the climbing wall.
• All climbers must use belay devises, carabineers, and ropes provided by UPTRC.
• Climbing shoes or athletic shoes are required at all times.
• Climbers are required to wear shirts with sleeves at all times.
• Loose chalk and chalk balls are not permitted.
• Intentional swinging across the wall is prohibited at all times.
• Climbers must not climb below another climber.
• All accidents and equipment damage must be reported immediately to the climbing staff and/or front desk.
• Cell phones are prohibited within 10 feet of the rock wall or if you are harnessed as a belayer or climber.
• Climbing on the rock wall without a member of the UPTRC staff is strictly prohibited.
